Aims and ObjectivesThe proposed project with the title European Regional Competitiveness and Human Resource Development – with acronym EuRComp - is a scientific challenge that seeks to promote sound knowledge of European and regional competitiveness based on the potential of human resource development. The team of the project is formed by two professors from Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Ana-Maria Bercu, the module leader, and Mihaela Tofan, member of the team with a solid professional background in teaching in the field of European studies. The project proposes a summer school as a professional forum of learning, stimulating and promoting the European studies concerning the regional competitiveness issues as a vector to achieve the performance and to create added value at the level of European companies or organizations where the graduates will work (the target class is based on master students from first or second year of study, with specializations that are not in the sphere of European Studies, 30 students each year).
Objectives targeted by the project are to improve the knowledge, skills and competences of students in the field of European studies concerning the regional competitiveness based on human resource development in order to increase the opportunity to put all these achievements in the future professional life and to promote a new way to learn about the European Union and about the challenges from the labor market. The innovative character of the teaching activities is represented by the methods and techniques used by the two professors: interactivity at course, discussions, case studies, role plays, questioning followed by the PPT interactive presentations. To assure a connection between students and professors in real time will be created a platform (a link from the portal of FEAA to the project page) with all documents, information, research studies, curricula, handbook, best papers of the students, schedule of the roundtables and conferences.
Expected ImpactThe expected impact is the improvement the knowledge and skills for 2nd cycle students in the field of European regional competitiveness, human resource development and labour relations in the EU, for better adaptability on the labour market, in order to become competitive candidates, in accordance with the standards imposed by the position of leader in European organizations. The module can be attended by students who have different specializations and who are in the first or second year of study of master; they can be in the same city or region, from the same or from other university. In addition, the module is available for individuals early in their professional life but also to those with experience in their field of expertise, who opt for a change in their career in a European organization, aiming at a management position. In this, context, the aspects of European regional competitiveness, management of human resources and labour relations and European legal framework are mandatory. In this way, the module contributes to the education and training throughout life, including adult education. The impact of the summer school can be evaluated in terms of knowledge and skills achieved by the participating students to discuss, to analyse, to question, to think, to demonstrate, to get solutions in order to be more competitive and to develop the professional potential, attitudes and behaviours oriented to gain the best job on European labor market, taking into account the professional background. The students will learn in a professional framework, with a nonconventional manner of teaching and discussing – will be encouraged the expression of the ideas, the arguments, the opinions; the summer school will means new friends, new partners, new social acquisitions.

Project Team
Assoc. Professor, Dr. Ana-Maria Bercu She specializes in management, with specific expertise in economics, especially in human resources management and management of labour relations in the European space. She teaches courses on European studies in economic education (BA and MA), since 2001. She is a doctor with the
very good rating of the "Al I. Cuza" University in the field of management, since September 2008. PhD thesis entitled
Vocational training and career staff of the public administration, labour materialized in 2009 with the publication of a new book with the same title. Research areas are regional competitiveness, human resources, and personnel strategies for European entrepreneurs, labour relations and social policy in the EU. As module leader, she will take care of teaching the following subjects: competitiveness, policies and practices in EU, development of human resource, working conditions, training, payroll and labour discipline.
Assoc. Professor, Dr. Mihaela Tofan She is a law expert, with specific expertise in European law. She teaches courses and conducts research in the field of European studies since 2001 (BA and MA). She has a doctorate cum laude in the field of law, awarded by the University of Bucharest, in July 2008. The PhD. thesis is focused on the legal aspects of the Romania's integration into the European Monetary Union. She participated in international conferences, seminars and teaching activities with students, both in Romania and abroad. Since 2009 she is member of the Centre of Excellence in European Studies from JM University "Alexandru Ioan Cuza". She was the leader of the JM module The EU civil service and the EU civil servant (2010-2013). She will be responsible for the activity of teaching and research on specific aspects of the legal framework for working relations and competitiveness in the EU.
